The Williams sisters (Venus and Serena) have dominated the game of tennis for almost two decades with numerous career titles and global recognition.  They remain two of the best women tennis players in the world today and, have been ranked Number 1 in the world at some point in their tennis career. Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have taken the game of football to another level with their scintillating display of foot work, and have become two of the most successful athletes in the world. One thing is certain; everyone has a measure of talent either discovered or waiting to be discovered. Nobody was created empty!

In the world of athletics, six-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt is regarded as the fastest person ever timed. He’s the greatest sprinter the world has ever seen and keeps getting better every day. Look for your space and take charge. Don’t let go until you make something out of your talent. Talent is never static. It’s either growing through proper use or dying if not used.

Our beloved Adichie Ngozi Chimamanda has taken over the literary world with her creativity. She is a novelist, nonfiction writer and short story writer. Adichie has been called “the most prominent” of a “procession of critically acclaimed young Anglophone authors that is succeeding in attracting a new generation of readers to African literature.”

This world is full of some persons that have dominated in diverse areas. As a matter of fact, there’s enough space for everyone in a particular field to reign in life. You must have a vision for life and map out ways to achieve it.  Everything in life starts with a decision. Decide to be great and make an impact in your generation. Seek for ways to add value to life and not to subtract from it. Discover what you are good at and stick to it like a postage stamp sticks to an envelope until it gets to its final destination.

In seeking to become relevant, don’t get involved with so many thing and end up being ‘Jack of all trade but master of none.’ In the word of Albert Einstein, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its whole life believing that it is stupid.” Take for instance, Cristiano Rolando could never play tennis like the Williams sisters and, Venus or Serena Williams can never sing like Beyoncé.

The number one secret to a successful life is to discover what you are good at or was created to be, and develop yourself through hard work, determination and perseverance.  In all you do, aim for excellence, relevance and contribution to life.

To everyone, there is a measure of talent from your maker. Invest it wisely and become a reference point.

Lesson: In life, discover your race and run along, don’t run or meddle in another man’s race. The world is big enough for everyone to break through and be a star.
