THE COMPLEXITIES OF LIFE – MY PERSPECTIVE

Do we really understand life? Do we need to understand life to enjoy life?

COMPLEXITIES OF LIVING

“Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.” – Confucius.

“I never knew anybody . . . who found life simple. I think a life or a time looks simple when you leave out the details.”
― Ursula K. Le Guin.
The initial plan of creation was not to make life complex. But man in the quest for power, control and development has somewhat complicated things. There are things humans do not have answers to – science cannot manufacture or create life without the contribution of what has already been created (sperm and ovum), the sun shines in the day and the moon only by night, and they cannot be controlled by humans but God. We should observe some things and leave them the way they are. By the time we plan to do or search out things outside the limit of our comprehension, we create room for complexities of life.

Sometimes, life can be so simple that we take things for granted like the ability to go to school, church, market, office and some other places without restriction. In other quarters, people have to suffer persecution and death in order to express their faith or go to school. Consequently, life can be compared to two sides of one coin: one side representing the simple life and the other side the complex life. At each point in life you’re either experiencing the simple life or dealing with life complexities.

In reality, there’s so much to learn on a daily basis, especially with the emergence of new technology, having to update and to keep abreast with your counterparts over the world, dealing with power failure in my part of the world and having to survive in an economy that is near collapse. The little joys of life like family outing, vacation and traveling are becoming difficult. ‘The increase in complexity of life is increasing.’

What do we need to keep life simple?  We need a positive change in our thinking; how we solve day-to-day challenge and our perspective of life in general.  According to Brink Lindsey “Our minds have to become more productive to keep pace with the growing complexity of the world around us. We should begin to think of ways of making life simple and offer solutions where necessary. Most importantly, let us glory in the mystery and paradoxes of life and appreciate it as a gift.

Lesson- Relax and take control of your life no matter what you are going through, and don’t take life as a ‘do or die’ affair.
