Sometimes, if you have not been sick, you will not appreciate health. Learn from whatever has happened to you and move on.
In life there are different seasons. There is cold and hot, wet and dry, summer and winter, day and night. No single season lasts forever, so also no problem lasts forever. Life may be full of challenges, but the good thing about it is that life doesn’t stand still. Remember the words ‘it came to pass’, not to stay.
Have you been raped, robbed, accused falsely or treated unjustly? Don’t hide under the pain that you are going through right now. Seek counsel, give yourself time to heal, forget the details, and move on with your life. Nothing lasts forever! According to Maya Angelou, ‘you may encounter many defeats, but don’t be defeated.’ Do not be swept away by the tide of misery. After the rain comes the rainbow! If you allow yourself to be swept away by the flood, how would you observe the rainbow in the sky?
Sometimes, God may allow you to face some difficulties because He knows you need additional maturity in those areas – a change of attitude, and to take your focus away from vanity. Just the way Gold is refined in fire, so also you are refined by some of life’s challenges. ‘You don’t know how juicy any fruit is until it’s squeezed, so also people.’ Horace, the ancient Roman poet, once said, “Adversity reveals genius, prosperity conceals it.”
The pain or feeling of guilt you harbor in your heart may last but for a moment, but if you quit and give up on yourself, it lasts forever. In spite of everything that has happened to you, keep the right perspective. The odds are not against you but for you.
A Chinese proverb says “That the birds of worry and care fly over your head, this you cannot change, but that they build nests in your hair, this you can prevent”. In life you can either make what happened to you an excuse for failure, or a stepping stone for your breakthrough. What was meant for your evil, with the right attitude and perspective, can become your testimony. Without cloudy days, you will not truly appreciate the sunshine. Hold on, help is on the way.
Lesson: ‘No condition in life is permanent.’ If you don’t endure the rain, you will not see the rainbow. Conquer your past and move on.
