Integrity is the quality of being honest and steadfastly adhering to high moral principles or professional standards. It is the state of being complete or undivided. Integrity is when your conscience agrees with your action. A person of integrity does what is right even when nobody is looking because he’s living for God not man.
So many people know what is right; they preach to others what is right, but don’t practice what they preach. We make promises that we don’t intend to keep, and speak empty words. Nigerian would be such a better place if our political leaders have integrity and match their words with actions.
How do you know a person of integrity? He continues to do what is right even when there seems to be no reward. He doesn’t live for today alone, but lives today for eternity because pay day is coming. The Bible says “Better is the poor that walks in his integrity than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.”
If we want to live a successful life, we must be disciplined to do what is right, even when we don’t feel like doing it. It’s easier to maintain your integrity than to regain it. Always try your best to preserve your integrity by being what you say you are, and true to yourself.
In the workplace, employers are searching for people with integrity to hire. Employees
that will work when they are supposed to, save socializing, snacking, searching the internet and personal phone calls for break time. Your degrees or qualifications can get you a job, but it takes diligence and integrity to remain on the job. ‘Integrity is the antidote to self-interest.’
“A man who lives right and is right has more power in his silence than another by his words.”-Phillip Brooks
“One of the truest tests of integrity is its blunt refusal to be compromised.” –
Chinua Achebe.
“It may cost you to do the right thing, but it will cost you more to abandon your
Principles.”- Bob Gass
In all that you do, stay true to yourself and refuse to be compromised. At this point in time,
Nigeria needs people with character and integrity to lead the affairs of this country in order to
remain relevant. In the words of Shakespeare: “To thine own self be true, and it must follow, as
the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man.”
Integrity leads to honour.
