TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE

To succeed or not, lies in you. Every man is an architect of his destiny. No one can love you more than you love yourself, and no one can actually wish you success more than you want it yourself.

According to Dr. Cosmas Maduka, Coscharis President with diverse interests in manufacturing, petro-chemicals and auto sales, and a speaker at United Nations on Youth Entrepreneurship- “If anybody had reason not to succeed, the person is me. If anybody had reason to blame God for failing, it should be me,’’ He added, “Life is about mind-set. Believe in yourself and believe in God.”

His was a humble beginning. Maduka lost his father at age 4. He had to withdraw from school at primary III at age 7. He hawked akara (bean balls) to help contribute to the up keep of his family, and later came to Lagos to become apprentice in an auto shop to a senior uncle. Through dedication, honesty and hard work, the N200 his uncle provided as settlement for years of his apprenticeship, eventually turned into a fortune.

You may have so many reasons why things are not working the way you expected at the moment, but you don’t have any excuse for failure, because many people have been at a similar position you are in right now and succeeded against all odds. Don’t approach life with a casual attitude, if not you will end up a casualty.

Some people were born with silver spoons in their mouths; some with a bronze spoon; wooden spoon; and while others with no spoon at all. It doesn’t matter how you were born. The richest people in the world right now were not all born with a silver spoon.  If you want to succeed, you will definitely find a way, but if you want to fail, you will find an excuse.

God did not create a failure or spare tyre. You have value. The easiest way to take charge of your life and succeed is to single out your specialty and develop yourself along that path until you become a reference point. If you want to fail, do nothing! In the words of Henry Dyke, “Some succeed because they are destined to, but most succeed because they are determined to.” If Joseph in the Bible didn’t take charge of his life, Potiphar’s wife would have destroyed his destiny. Reject laziness, idleness, envy and the ‘little foxes that spoil the vine.’ Go for knowledge, new ideas and be innovative.  Try to go beyond what you have already mastered or done in the past to achieve new and better results.

Taking charge of your life is a gradual process. Start today and make something out of your existence. God created every life with a beautiful purpose, discover yours and run with it.

Don’t let anybody occupy your stance in life. Take charge of your destiny and fight to succeed.
