Focus on your abilities and not on your limitations.
It’s a pity that people want the best things in life without working for them. We want pleasure, position and power without paying the price. Everything in life worth having comes with a price; the question is whether you are willing to pay the price to attain your dream. This joke buttresses the need to go after the real thing. “A man dragged his neighbor before the courts of a village king. His accusation was that his neighbor was using the aroma from the soup he was cooking to eat pounded yam. The king was shocked! Well, to pacify the accuser, the king told his servants to take the accused out into the sun and give the accuser a whip so he could beat the shadow of the accused.” Who is fooling who? Is the aroma of food the same as that food? Does shadow feel pain?
Anthony J.D’ Angelo stated ‘When solving problems, dig at the roots instead of just hacking at the leaves.’ If you have been praying and praying for a particular request and it seems you are getting nowhere, maybe you have to pause and check your life if there are ‘ the little foxes that spoil the vine’, such as malice, anger, backbiting, hatred, covetousness, unforgiving spirit, pride etc., address those issues first and then pray to God for your miracles. According to Zig Ziglar, ‘You cannot climb the ladder of success dressed in a costume of failure’. If you want to be a professional, take time to learn the rudiments of the profession so that you don’t end up half-baked. Spend time and resources to lay a solid foundation, then build on it carefully until you get to the top. If you rush to get everything you want, you will not find pleasure in them. ‘You must endure the rain in order to see the rainbow.’
Stop trying to be someone else, and discover who you are. Do not allow the things you cannot do interfere with what you can do. Be determined to stand out and be the best you can possibly be in life. Get challenged to the point of discovering your real self so that you can work on your weaknesses and correct them. There is always room for improvement in life.
Life is a journey, and only those who have a definite destination record progress. So stop chasing shadows and plan to stay ahead in life.
Lesson: The only lasting solution to a problem is to address the root cause of the problem and not the symptoms. Plan ahead to stay ahead.
