We were created to reign in life as kings and priests. It’s so good to have all the good things in life, and live in affluence. But it’s so much better for us to learn to live within our means and be content with life.
Stop itching for what you can’t afford at the moment, and concentrate on doing those things that will take you to the next level in life. Stop complaining and comparing yourself with every Tom, Dick and Harry. When we complain, we rewire our brain to create a negative environment which dampens our productivity.
You don’t need to have everything to be happy. Stop putting yourself under undue pressure by struggling to acquire the world at the expense of your limited resources. If you can afford the basic necessities of life be thankful to God, but don’t ever borrow to pay for luxuries.
In the spirit of Christmas season, spend wisely and reserve some for January and beyond. ’Don’t ask for better credit or more money. Set a budget and live within your means.’
In the words of David Oyedepo, “The best cars are found on the street of Africa, but the poorest nations are found in Africa.” This is a paradox! This is what happens when the government of the day borrows money to service luxuries at the expense of building infrastructures and developing their economy, and when the people borrow to service luxurious lifestyles.
The message for today is for us to cultivate the habit of living within our means. It requires self-control to be able to do that and differentiate between our needs and wants.
If we try to meet all our needs and wants, we end up living extravagantly, without reserve for the future.
Live within your means and enjoy what you’ve got at the moment.
Merry Christmas to you all.
